SML Laboratories is an established geotechnical testing house providing services to site investigation specialists, Civil Engineers and other construction professionals.
Currently our laboratory offers the following scope of testing to BS1377:2022 standards:
- Moisture Content
- Plastic Limit
- Plasticity Index – 1 Point Liquid Limit
- Plasticity Index – 4 point Liquid Limit
- Particle Size Distribution (wet / dry sieve)
- Particle Size Distribution (sedimentation by hydrometer)
- Particle Density (pycnometer)
- Saturated Moisture Content of Chalk
- Intact Dry Density of Chalk
- Linear Shrinkage
- Quick undrained triaxial (single and multi-stage)
How to Send us Your Samples
Through our environmental lab we offer the following construction-related chemical testing including full BRE suites:
- pH value
- Sulphate (water soluble and total)
- Sulphur (total)
- Magnesium, nitrate, chloride, (water soluble and total)
- Ammonium (total)
Please discuss your testing requirements before sending samples to us, and please ensure you follow our handy sample handling guide. Geotechnical samples can be fragile, and care should be taken to avoid extreme temperatures including frost. Please note that a maximum of two U100 samples is permitted per container due to package weight limit (20kg).
